CHESHIRE PERFORMANCE ACADEMY
Structured performance coaching for ambitious cricketers aged 14–18
The Cheshire Performance Academy delivers structured, standards-led coaching programmes for players who want to take their cricket seriously.
Designed for cricketers aged 14–18, the Academy provides a clear step beyond general group coaching — combining technical refinement, tactical understanding, and competitive application within a focused training environment.
Programmes run throughout the year in structured blocks aligned to the cricket season.

COACHING THAT STANDS UP IN MATCHES
A performance-focused environment
The Academy environment is:
- Focused and well-structured
- Supportive but appropriately demanding
- Clear about expectations around effort, preparation, and behaviour
- Designed to develop habits that transfer into competitive matches
Players are challenged appropriately, supported consistently, and encouraged to take increasing responsibility for their own development over time.
Who the Performance Academy is for
The Cheshire Performance Academy is best suited to players who:
- Are playing regular school or club cricket
- Are motivated to improve and open to constructive challenge
- Want a more structured and purposeful training environment
- Are preparing for progression into senior, county, or representative cricket
The emphasis is on long-term development — not short-term results.

The Cheshire Performance Academy is led by Nathan Wood, ECB Level 4 Master Coach, ex Lancashire professional, and former Head of Coach Development for England Cricket.
Delivery is supported by a team of experienced ECB Level 2, Level 3 and Level 4 coaches, ensuring high-quality, consistent coaching across the programme.
The Academy also includes guest sessions from county and international players and coaches, giving players exposure to different perspectives from the professional game.

Coaching focuses on building strong technical foundations, effective training habits, and match awareness, alongside clear expectations around preparation and behaviour.
How the Academy operates
The Cheshire Performance Academy runs structured performance blocks throughout the year, aligned to:
- Pre-season preparation
- Early-season transition
- In-season performance development
Each block is designed as a coherent programme, building progressively and maintaining high coach-to-player ratios.
